How have business presentations evolved over the years ...

There are a range of presentation solutions ? from basic PowerPoint presentations to high-end presentations that you can navigate much like a website ? incorporating Flash, video, voice over, 3D and animation.

Presentations: The evolution

Professional and creative internal external sales presentations all serve to capture, excite and motivate an audience.

Do you remember the days when people used to use an overhead projector with hand written transparencies to make their sales pitch or present information internally or at a conference?

And, thank goodness then came PowerPoint!

Have we now evolved from PowerPoint to flash presentations including 3D animation, video?

Are we not up to speed if we are not using the latest multimedia presentation?

PowerPoint presentations

Development on the PowerPoint presentations software as we know it started in 1984 and was then called Presenter and boasted 236 different colours ? geared towards macintosh users.

The potential in the presentations software market was seen by Microsoft who bought it in 1987 for $14million. One month later PowerPoint was launched to Macintosh and Dos users.

PowerPoint took a while to cause waves in a world still using overhead transparencies with the main reason being expense and only large companies use them regularly for their presentations.

In 1988 Microsoft partnered with competing software company, Genigraphics and continued to evolve PowerPoint through the 90s Now featuring special effects, sound, video and animation PowerPoint presentations are a staple sales tool of many a business man.

PowerPoint presentations are used for marketing when the content of the presentation needs to be updated regularly. Most of the slides can be laid out and animated inhouse although it is clear when a professionally designed PowerPoint presentation template is being used.

The Introduction of Flash, 3D animation Multimedia presentations

Flash presentations have great impact for sales tools, internal and external branding ? but these cannot contain content that needs to be tailor-made per client as the content cannot be changed in-house.

Flash presentations can include 3D animation which is especially effective for product launches. The products can be built in 3D and animated to create a real WOW effect.

3D can also be used for creating logos, products, interior and exterior layouts, different retail environments, signage, product demos, online games using 3D and animation can make the difference you need when producing a highly professional digital project.

If the presentation is mainly video other software applications would work better such as Premier, After effects and the list goes on.

Uses of Professional Presentations include: sales tools, Product launches, corporate overviews, incentives programmes, award ceremonies conference presentations, corporate videos, business presentations and many more.
