Choose The Osprey Aether 60 If You Want An Ideal Lightweight ...

Looking for a new mid-sized hiking or trekking backpack that you can use for just about everything? Check out the Osprey Aether 60. It is well designed, supremely functional, and is made with Osprey?s signature high quality materials and workmanship. It is also comfortable, which is essential.

Speaking of comfort, the Osprey Aether 60 is customizable. That is to say, you can adjust and mold the pack to fit you. Regardless of where you purchase the pack, you can go to any of Osprey?s dealers and they will heat mold the hip belt to your hips for that just right fit. The harness is made of comfortable dual density foam and is easily adjustable. In addition, the shoulder straps are well contoured and the sternum strap is adjustable (and includes a safety whistle, incidentally).

Some lightweight packs weigh less than the Aether 60 but they do not have its features and functionality. The Aether 60 weighs about 2.2 kilograms and is ideal for those transitioning away from heavier packs. Many hikers have found the pack to comfortably carry up to 40 pounds, though Osprey has rated the backpack as able to carry loads between 40 and 55 pounds. Most hikers will not need to carry any more than 40 pounds, however.

The Aether 60 has many straps and loops for attaching whatever gear you need for your adventures. A big front stretch pocket is great for bulky gear or wet clothes. Two side stretch pockets are perfect for water bottles and can be reached while the pack is on. The ice axe loops can secure tools or other items and the removable sleeping pad straps are also available for gear attachment. Skis could be attached by the side compression straps and a snowboard or snowshoes by the three front compression straps. Climbing ropes could be attached under the top flap. Osprey?s add-ons (day packs etc.) are compatible with this pack and are attached onto the front.

One of the greatest features of the Aether 60 is its ability to carry both large light loads and small heavy loads. The compression straps effectively size down the pack so that it can be used for day hikes and summit attempts, thus providing extra value for the money and the ability to use one pack for everything.

Overall, the Aether 60 is a well thought out lightweight mid-sized pack. It is great for light multi-day hiking or for day hikes. The functional design of the pack is combined with durable materials and high quality workmanship to create and ideal pack for anyone wanting a versatile pack that will be with them for many years of adventuring.
