Yesterday I had the opportunity to try a new place in West Lafayette called Cafe Lumos. ?It?s over in the small strip on Win Hentschel Boulevard, in the same strip as KitchenArt, Route 66, and Thai Essence. I had heard about it a few times and was able to view their menu online, so I was excited to give it a try.

It?s not a huge place, just a smattering of tables and a long counter. Over the counter there is a giant chalkboard with the menu you can choose from. You order at the counter, and then the food is delivered to your table. They have a variety of sandwich choices, a couple of soups, and a handful of salads. It?s not a large food menu. Their drink menu is much bigger and includes many coffee and espressos, teas, and Italian sodas. They full menu is available here.

I chose to the Turkey Basil Pesto sandwich with a cup of the Tomato Bisque. The sandwich has turkey,?provolone? lettuce, tomato, onion and a pesto?mayonnaise. It was really tasty, as was the soup.

My friend ordered the cranberry chicken salad, which the website says is their best seller and reports that it was very good. She also ordered the potato salad, and the report on that was less good. She said it was mediocre, much like the kind you buy at the grocery store deli.

Overall, I really liked it and would definitely go again. The prices were really reasonable, my half sandwich and soup was less than $6.

Kid Friendly: Yes.
