Kids Health Issues ? Laws and Childhood Obesity ? Quick Access ...

It?s true that childhood obesity is a problem that is only growing. More kids are getting bigger and bigger and government and health officials continue to come up with ideas to solve this problem. Ultimately, it comes down to the parents.

A San Francisco Chronicle article from February 2012 said that UCSF scientists believe they have found a solution. The way to solve childhood obesity is by taxing sugar, according to them. In addition, they propose there should be restrictions on advertising and an age limit for who can by sugary items.

Laws against sugar consumption don?t seem to be the right answer, though. It?s not the responsibility of the government to rule over free people in such a way. In order for change to really happen, it?s got to be the choice of the people.

We all know that sugar is not good for us. But, there?s more sugar available than the average person realizes. Even if you cut out cookies and other desserts, many other foods are full of sugar. And kids don?t just eat sugary foods at home. They are practically given sugar everywhere they turn (school, church, the bank, etc.).

The best way for the problem to be solved is for parents to jump on board the bandwagon. Parents should be educated about their food choices for their families. It really helps to know what you?re buying if you can read food labels and understand how many grams of sugar are bad.

Sugar laws are not the only solution from health officials. Scientists are also encouraging parents to buy more products that have aspartame instead of sugar. This is a dangerous solution, though. Artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame, are incredibly harmful for the body.

They are known as excitotoxins and there are 90 symptoms that can be caused from eating aspartame. Death is even listed. During animal studies, too much aspartame has actually caused obesity in animals. No matter what anyone says, these artificial sweeteners are not better than sugar.

Even if there were laws to regulate sugar, the parents really have the final say for their child?s health. The law can?t keep your kids healthy, you have to do it. If that is something you would like to do, then start educating yourself now and start making changes.

In many cases, children are overweight because their parents are also overweight. They have passed down poor eating habits to their kids. The best way to solve this problem is for the whole family to rally together and start eating healthier. This is a decision that only you and your family can make.
